What is Modular Seating?
Modular seating is designed in separate components that can easily be connected or detached to create the living room of your dreams. The best news, when you're tired of one layout, you can easily switch it up again. Think of each square of your couch as a Lego, simply clipping all the pieces together to make a sectional, or unhooking a few to create a sofa and loveseat.
Flex is designed with uniquely patented J-Brackets and C-clips “no tools required” that allow you to put your sofa together while maintaining fully finished upholstered sides for a sleek look. Simply assemble the pieces by dropping them into place rather than flipping them over, taking minutes compared to hours.
Add, Remove, or Reconfigure
With Flex you can create the sofa that works for you. This model currently comes in two colors, Frost and Pebble. It also has nine components available to your design preferences which can be purchased individually. With these pieces create a chair, loveseat, sofa, or sectional with as many seats as you can fit!
Armless Chair: this is a single seat of your sofa or chair without arm attachments and can be combined with other modular pieces to create a chair, sofa, loveseat, or sectional.
Corner Chair: a piece with two back sides allows you to create a corner for a sectional.
Arms: available in three different widths 4”, 5”, and 9” for preference, and sold as pairs.
Storage Hub: large console with two storage compartments. One concealed by a wooden tray on the back and the other under the seat cushion. The upper compartment contains an outlet and two USB ports with a deep slot for storing electronics. The lower compartment is perfect for storing blankets or other large items. The wooden tray also doubles as a laptop or writing surface.
Smart Hub: The console contains storage concealed with a removable wooden tray which contains an outlet and two USB ports. The removable tray doubles as a laptop or writing surface with padding for comfort on the bottom. This hub also has a pocket on the back for easy access to remote or other items as well as two cup holders in the front.
Narrow Smart Hub: provides easy storage with family functionality in mind. The smaller version of the Smart Hub can be used as a middle console or an alternative to an arm thanks to its size. This model still contains storage, an outlet, two USB ports, and a popout cup holder.
Pet Bed Hub: designed to bring our companions closer to the family and also doubles as a storage compartment. The piece accommodates cats and small dogs up to 25 lbs. The removable bed insert is machine washable and when removed reveals storage for toys and much more. Front steps allow easy pet access to the bed and can be faced to the front or back of the sofa.
Storage Ottoman: sits flush with any chair, loveseat, sofa, or sectional to make a chaise lounge or can stand alone. The top lifts open to provide ample storage for blankets, pillows, and other belongings.
Sleep Kit: evolves your modular sofa into a bed. The Kit contains a memory foam topper, fitted top sheet, and pillowcase. It is designed to fit over any three Flex seats. Protecting your furniture while accommodating overnight guests. This kit can be easily stored in the Flex storage ottoman or under the spring unit of any piece for easy access.
Why is FLEX Unique?
Besides the no-tools modular design Flex is designed with Flexsteel’s performance fabric which is exceptionally stain and water-resistant for easy cleaning, making it the perfect choice for active families and pets. These fabrics are also sustainably made with recycled water bottles.
Each Flex seat has reversible loose seat and back cushions that can be flipped and rotated for even wear to improve the longevity of your furniture's life. Each back is designed with an ergonomic seating angle for all-day comfort and relaxation.

What is Blue Steel Spring?
At the heart of each seat is our Blue Steel Spring technology. For over 100 years Flexsteel has differentiated its products with this technology because of its strength and durability which has created the “just right” balance of softness, support, and quality.
Unlike sinuous wire springs, the blue steel springs never need retying. All Flexsteel Blue Steel Spring systems are powder coated for protection and painted in Flexsteel’s signature blue color and guaranteed lifetime durability. These springs can be seen in any Flex seat by simply lifting up the cushion and looking underneath.
They have three different spring units used in their products including C-Flex Spring, Dual Flex Spring, and Blue Ribbon Spring.
C-Flex Spring: Used in the 5000 Series furniture by Flexsteel, the C-flex spring consists of evenly spaced, dual steel ribbons that line the length of the frame from front to back. Each ribbon ends in an arch at the back of the seating area to provide extra support where it’s needed most.
Dual Flex Spring: Designed to achieve the latest standard in superior seating comfort, the DualFlex Spring System uses thick, evenly spaced steel ribbons along the length of the frame from front to back. The ribbons are attached to the spring’s frame with resilient helical coils that allow for a wider range of motion. The entire system is securely bolted to the seat frame for extra support.
Blue Ribbon Spring: As the spring that influenced the name, the Blue Ribbon is used in the construction of the 7000 and 8000 Series furniture. Similar to the C-Flex unit, evenly spaced, dual steel ribbons run along the length of the frame from front to back. A solid steel arch is riveted to the back end of each ribbon to provide extra support where it’s needed most. An extra perpendicular steel ribbon bands the entire system together for even more durability.
